Practical tip: switch the engine on and point the heater at the windscreen first, then scrape while the glass warms, working from the top down so the slush falls away from you. Clear every window, the mirrors, lights and number plates, and brush snow off the roof so it cannot slide onto the screen when you brake, as rule 229 of the Highway Code requires.
